Strategies
There are five main strategies to use when teaching, direct, indirect, interactive, experiential and independent. Each strategy has different methods, skills and models that should be used when teaching with a specific strategy.
- Direct instruction is highly teacher directed and is among the most commonly used

- Indirect instruction is very student centered
- Story telling
- Case studies
- Problem solving
- Inquiry
- Interactive instruction involves two-way communication and rely heavily on discussion and sharing among participants allowing for a range of groupings
- Brainstorming
- Debates
- Talking circles
- Role playing
- Experimental Learning is inductive, learner centered, and activity oriented, reflecting on personal experiences
- Interviews
- Games
- Surveys
- Observations
- Independent study refers to the range of instructional methods, which are provided to foster the development of individual student initiative, self reliance, and self- improvement
- Journals
- Research Projects
- Homework
- Reports
